What is Intel? What is the Difference between Intel Core i3 and the Core i5?

What is Intel?

The Intel Core i3 is considered to be the budget processor of the Core series, usually you'll find that laptops or desktops that have Intel Core i3 processors are less expensive when compared to those of Intel Core i5 which is why they’re referred to as budget friendly machines. If you are looking for a home and an affordable laptop or desktop that you’ll be using for the simplest of computing then the Core i3 is probably your best choice for your digital needs. A Core i3 laptop or desktop can handle programs and tasks that are browser based such as checking emails, searching the internet, office applications, streaming media content be it Netflix and other media apps, and low end games. Intel i3 processors are entry level and are meant for everyday computing, which is why most people are good with i3 processors because they don’t require much from their laptops or desktops.

Compared to other processors, the Core i3 processors have lower cache sizes (onboard memory), they handle less RAM and have varying clock speeds. If you’re looking for a laptop or desktop where you’ll multitask and run memory-intensive software programs, then the Core i5 is probably the better option for you.

Although the Core i3 processors are good at providing adequate performance for basic tasks they often become slow when you run programs at the same time which is where the i5 comes in. With more cores and threads as compared to the Core i3 processors, the Core i5 processors are best for multi-tasking and running memory-intensive software programs and they provide good performance for most tasks.

If you’re looking for greater performance, you’ll want to consider an Intel Core i5. Since launching there has been a series of improvements done to the Intel Core i5 processors, the Core i5 processors are faster than the Core i3 processors which makes them suitable for complex computing tasks, multi-media consumption, media creation and immersive gaming. With Hyper-Threading a Core i5 processor laptop or desktop allows you to open as many applications as you want and you won’t experience a decrease in processor performance, for example you can be streaming, while editing a document or researching something and transferring large files in the background.

As compared to the Intel Core i3 processors, the Intel Core i5 processors have a higher clock speed, they have a larger cache, they can handle more memory (RAM) and they’re integrated graphics are more improved.

The Intel Core processor is one of the best core processing units in its market, the Intel Core i3 and the Intel Core i5 are both best for specific digital needs.
